What are virtual cards and how do I use them with my Oxygen account?
Updated over a week ago

A virtual card* is a temporary and recurring debit card linked to your Oxygen account. It has a 3-digit security code and an expiration date, just like a standard debit card. Virtual cards can be used online or by phone without the need to present your physical Oxygen card number.

Virtual cards can be reusable or single-use only, so they are ideal for one-time or recurring payments and subscriptions. Virtual cards can be used for things like paying your phone bill, Netflix subscription, or making one-time purchases on sites such as Amazon.

Do virtual cards expire?

Virtual cards expire one year from the calendar month they were created.

To create a virtual card:

  1. Open the Oxygen app and go to “More.”

  2. Select the “Cards.”

  3. Swipe right and choose “Create new card.”

  4. Set a spend limit of up to $2,500 per transaction, if desired.

  5. Save your settings, and the virtual card will instantly appear in your app and be ready for use.

  6. To view your virtual card number, tap once on the virtual card to expose your virtual card’s details.

You can also create a virtual merchant card associated with a specific merchant, spending limit, and frequency.

The number of virtual cards you can create depends on your Elements tier:

Element

Maximum number of virtual cards

Earth

3 active

Water

15 active

Air

Unlimited

Fire

Unlimited

If you downgrade to a lower Element tier, you will still have access to the cards that were active when you changed your Element level. However, you will not be able to create new virtual cards as long as you remain above the virtual card limit of your new Element tier.

Adding funds to my virtual cards

You cannot add funds to your virtual cards. As long as you have a positive balance in your Oxygen deposit account to cover the limit set on your virtual card, any transaction made with your virtual card number will automatically be deducted from your deposit account.

Transfers or deposits

Virtual cards cannot be used for any type of transfer or deposit. If you attempt to make a transfer using payment apps such as Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, etc., the transfer will not be processed, and you will have to wait 3–5 business days for your funds to be returned to your account.

What do I do if I don’t receive my Oxygen Visa Debit Card?

Please verify the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for your Oxygen card in your account under "My Oxygen card" to confirm if the date is still within the expected delivery time frame.

If the ETA for your card has lapsed and you still haven't received it, you can request a replacement through the app by navigating to “More” > “Cards” and tapping the three dots in the top right corner. Then select “Report lost or damaged.”

If you have any issues, please contact Oxygen customer support at 866-287-7021, support@oxygen.us, or chat with us on the mobile or web app.

* The Visa Virtual Account may be used everywhere Visa debit is accepted online.
